Privacy policy
Last updated 7 November 2026.
This policy explains what personal data Race Twin collects through this website, the Race Twin account site (account.racetwin.com) and the Race Twin app, what we use it for and how long we keep it. Race Twin is run by Willemse & Company Technology Inc., a company incorporated in British Columbia, Canada, which is responsible for your data. You can reach us at support@racetwin.com.
On this website
When you join the beta list, we collect your email address and, if you choose one, the sim you drive. They are held by Buttondown, our email list provider, which sends you a confirmation email first. We use them to send you an invite and news about the beta. Every email has a link to unsubscribe.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies and does not identify you. This website is hosted by Vercel, whose servers keep short-lived technical logs.
Your Race Twin account
When you create an account, we keep:
- your email address, whether you have confirmed it, and your display name;
- your password, stored only as a one-way hash (Argon2id), or, if you sign in with Google or Discord, the identifier and email address that service gives us;
- when you accepted the terms, when you created the account and when you last used it;
- each PC you have connected to the account, by its name, with when it was connected and last used;
- your sign-in sessions, stored only as hashed tokens.
We use these to let you sign in, keep your account secure and send you the emails your account needs, such as address confirmation, sign-in links and password resets. Those emails are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service. The account site uses cookies only to keep you signed in.
Using the app
The twin runs on your PC. Your telemetry, session recordings, track maps and race history are kept on your PC and are not sent to us.
Some features need our servers:
- The race engineer. When your engineer speaks or answers you, the app sends a short written description of the moment and the conversation so far to our server. Our server passes it to an AI model running on Amazon Bedrock and sends the reply back. We do not keep the text of the conversation. We record how much each reply used (its size in tokens and how long it took), to run the service and apply usage allowances.
- Push to talk. While you hold the button, your voice is sent through our server to Amazon Transcribe, which turns it into text for the engineer. We do not keep the recording. We record how many seconds were transcribed. When we correct a driver's name in what was heard, the words heard may appear in our server logs.
- The engineer's voice. The text of each reply is sent to OpenAI to be turned into speech. We record how many characters were spoken.
- 3D track maps. Map imagery and terrain are fetched through our server from Esri and from Amazon's open terrain data. We count how many map tiles each account uses per day.
- Plugins and updates. The app fetches the plugin catalogue and app updates from our server.
Who processes your data
Our servers and database run on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Our service providers are Amazon Web Services (hosting, email, the AI model, speech to text), OpenAI (the engineer's voice), Esri (map imagery), Buttondown (the beta list) and Vercel (this website). Google and Discord are involved only if you choose to sign in with them. These providers process data only to provide their service to us, and where data leaves the UK or the European Economic Area, it is protected by the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Your account and its usage records: until you delete your account.
- Server logs: 30 days.
- Database backups: 14 days.
- The beta list: until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it or to stop using it, and you can object to how we use it. You can delete your account yourself, with everything we keep about it, from your account page at account.racetwin.com. For any of the other requests, email support@racetwin.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Race Twin is not meant for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we update it here and change the date at the top. If a change matters to how we use your data, we will tell you by email.
